Operational Research

You can always be more efficient

Operational Research is all about using analysis to improve decision making. Dr Angela Moore uses mathematical modeling, statistical analysis, optimisation, sequencing and scheduling techniques to create simple heuristics you can employ to run your operation more efficiently.

New E-Book

Amazon has just released a new tool for writing e-books with pictures. Seeing the potential for this we have just written and released a new e-book of our lectures for CDT02: How to Manage Your Shift Pattern. This book allows you to view our slides for the course. Ideal for anyone wishing to know what will be covered in our courses. This first book (we shall be releasing other course presentations) shows the sides that we would be presenting without any of the accompanying notes of course. It first shows you the problems with absence. How holidays tend to be bunched in the same time periods or how the shift pattern can influence when holidays are taken. Also the effect this will have on the operation. Then we show how to mitigate these problems and solutions to maintain your staffing requirement irrespective of holidays and absence. There is also the presentation on fatigue and how to minimise it on shift patterns. Small changes to the shift pattern can mean the difference between your staff working effectively or feeling continually tired and making mistakes.

This e-book can be used in conjunction with our other e-books so if you are interested in calculating the number of staff you require while an example is given in the slides you may wish to purchase our e-book “Calculating How Many Staff You I Need” for more examples and a detailed explanation of the process involved. Alternatively we also run courses designed to teach you the tools and techniques to effectively manage and introduce the perfect shift pattern for you. Please contact us for more information.

We are also adding it to the Knidle Library so if you are an Amazon Prime User you can read it for free.
